  1. Been using Divx and many other Codex's for years now, but recently I formatted myhard drive and did fresh Windows XP install, followed by service pack 1 and then www.windowsupdate.com for critical updates.

Anyways, now when I go to install my divx packs, that have been working fine for me for years, I can't see the codex's in Virtualdub or DVD2AVI. Here's the install files I use:

    SLDcodecpackV1.3 (all DivX Codecs).exe
    DivX412Bundle.exe
    DivX503Bundle.exe

They been working fine forever and now they don't come up at all. I have a sneaky suspision it may have to do with the windows updates trying to clamp down on security and maybe restricting divx for some reason. Just a suspision though, I have no way to prove this...

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

What do you mean they don't work? You double click the installers and nothing comes up? If so you might have the Windows Installer Service disabled. You can check this by going to Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services. If that's not the problem try installing the latest Divx 5.

Sorry, I mean they don't show up in virtualdub or DVD2AVI, as selectable compression codec's (i.e. Virtualdub->Video->compression). They used to before the fresh winxp install...

As for Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services, I didn't intentionally disable this, how can I be sure it isn't disabled... there is a lot of files under extended and stardard, although I can't spot divx anywhere...

    Thanks,
