  1. I have Tmpg DVD Author.(demo)

I went to add a mpeg-1 file. Excepts it fine. Go to add a .Vob file with the mpeg-1, but get an error with the .vob. resolution wrong, no header, etc etc.

I remove both files off. Then first I add that .Vob file. Excepts it fine. Then add that Mpeg-1 file next, but get an error with the mpeg-1 file: resoultion is wrong, no header etc. etc.

How is all this possible? And I can't 'ignore' any of this because it wont let me. You cant add .vob files with mpeg. Most of these mpeg-1 videos I have were encoded with TMPG so I would think it would except it.

I turned that .vob file into an avi. file with 'virtualdub mpeg-2' then encoded the avi. with TMPG but the music was out of sync (the .vob is a music video I ripped off a DVD I have.) So I kept it a .vob file after that.

Does any of this make sense? Any advice would be appreciated.

  2. Since I am assuming that you got that VOB by ripping it from a commerical disk, the chances are that it contains video encoded in MPEG2. I am unfamiliar with TMPGEnc DVD Author, but I assume that because it is a low-end app, it only allows the authoring of one VTS. If this is the case, then it cannot mix video types or resolutions in the same project. MPEG1 is not only different from MPEG2 on a number of levels - it is more than likely also encoded at a lower frame size/resolution than the MPEG2 content, and using a different GOP structure.

    Arky ;o)

DBD Author will allow different video characteristics but not on the same track.
Chances are you are trying to add both of these to track one.
If so add the first video on track one then use the 'Add new track' to open track 2 and insert the second video into that.
