Burner wont read plz help

i need some help i have a TDK 420N, when i put a cd in my dvd burner it wont read (blank or a aready written one) i go to my computer and it just says no disk in drive can someone give me some advice

Try more than 1 disk.

I got your PM; I'll reply here though as I'm no expert and you'll need advice from others too I reckon.

First major thing is, what are your computer specs? If you hover on 'computer details' over someone's post, you'll see they've put their details in. Makes it much easier to help if people know what system you're working on; more than just the make of your drive which you've given in the post. Also when did the drive stop working? Had you done something major prior to that? Or is the drive newly installed? Does it read DVDs, but not CDs, or does it read neither? Is it set as master or slave?

Give as much info as you can and I'm sure you'll get the help you need.

it is set to slave, when i put a dvd in ie...... bad boys 2 it plays ok but when i go to burn a dvd or cd it wont even read a cd it keeps saying please insert a disk. and it started when i turned off my computer for work when i came home yested day it was trippin.
