I am following the guide at this page, and am attempting to use DVDShrink to rip and burn a DVD9 to DVD5.
http://www.dvd-guides.com/guides.php?category=dvdcopy&name=shrink
The problem: On Step 8 in the guide, it says "If you have Nero installed you can select to burn the DVD directly..." The image shows a toolbar that has the words "Burn with Nero to the Following Device:".
Problem is, I do have Nero (v5.5.10.56) installed but I do not get the pictured dialog box that offers Nero as a burn alternative. How can I get DVDShrink to recognize I have Nero and offer it as a burn alternative through Shrink? It is by default burning through dvddecrypter every time.
I have posted this question at their site, but wanted to run it by the people here as well.
Thanks

In DVDshrink 3.1.7 under Edit -> Preferences there is a File I/O tab.
Within that there is a check box to enable burning with Nero.
I saw that box and had checked it, but it still burned through DVDDecrypter after it had written the ISO file to my hard drive... There's another box at the bottom of one of the shrink windows that asks if you want to burn through DVDdecrypter - I'll try to uncheck that one and see if that works. -
That DVDdecrypter box MUST be unticked to burn with Nero!
I found auto burning via Nero to be more reliable than by DVDdecrypter.
DVDdecrypter 3.2.1.0 now has a verify option - very handy, but out of the four burns I did using DVDdecrypter, two failed to verify - had lots of errors.
DVDdecrypter is a truly great product, so I put my failure down to faulty media. Still, I went back to auto burn using Nero and have been fine using the same media. I verify with DVDinfoPro. -

Thx For saying that.
Me Too,but don't tell that Fulci Lives guy that,he seems to think Nero sucks and implied anyone using it(withor without Shrink) is an idiot. It's not even an option in his poll.(DVD Shrink)
I don't consider using the nero engine to be using Nero. But old fulci told me I was using Nero.So I must be using Nero.I've noticed on this forum that guys with high post counts seem to know everything.Right? -
Whenever I use dvd-Shrink for backing up the movie and let it auto-burn the movie with nero it comes out fine and the dvdr plays perfectly. But, whenever I compress the movie and store it on my HD for later manual recording with nero the final dvdr won't play! I don't think I am making any mistake with the files of the dvdr. I use nero 6.3.0.3 and I select the make DVD-Video option. In the VIDEO_TS file I burn all the produced by dvd-shrink files, leaving the AUDIO_TS empty. Am I doing something wrong?

"But, whenever I compress the movie and store it on my HD..."
Please explain HOW you do this! -
don't use nero to burn the stored filesUse DVD shrink using the nero engine.Nero 6 is so so 5 something is better.IMO.

OK, the issue was that Shrink v3.1.7 got rid of the "burn directly to Nero" text option. I loaded Shrink v3.1.5, and it had that direct task available. solved.

The reason was that your Nero was installed after DVDShrink. Reinstalling DVDShrink resolves your issue!
The reason you are having problems with Nero and DVDshrink is because you have to be using nero 6.0 or higher for the autoburn to work.
That is definitely NOT true. You don't need the 6.0 engine. I am burning with Nero 5.5.10.56 directly through shrink v3.1.5 & 3.1.7.
What I found out is that you have to uncheck "burn with dvddecrypter" in shrink v3.1.7 to get it to burn to nero - It's the way the interface is designed. And that differs from shrink v3.1.5 where you get a (default) dialog box that states "Burn with Nero to the Following Device" - as long as a nero engine is on your system -
I'm using 3.15 with Nero 6.15.NEVER had any problems.
If it aint broke don't fix it.
