  1. I have a 20-minute .mpg file -- a TV capture done with ATI Multimedia Center -- in which the sound track is about half an octave low. The sound is compleletely in sync with the video, but the voices are low and sound dragged out, as if the sound trrack were playing at 3/4 speed.

The ATI setting for the capture was

    Video: MPEG-2, 720x480, NTSC (525), 6.00 M Bit/Second
Audio: 48,000 KHz, 16 Bit, Stereo

Is there a way to correct the pitch of the sound track while maintaining sync with the video? I'm very new to this game, and my unguided attempts so far have been 'way off the mark.

As a matter of curiosity, can anyone suggest what might have caused the low pitch in the capture? All my other captures using the same software and the same settings with the same ATI card have had completely normal sound

    No idea why.

Use SOUNDFORGE audio restoration guides at lordsmurf.com

There are high pitch restore filters there.
