Hey,
I Have a whole lot of Final Cut Express captured DV which i have happiliy been editing on my mac, but i want to do some stuff to it on my PC.
What format is the captured DV in? I talking about the contents of th capture scratch folder. And is it openable on a pc if I add a file extension?

Big picture: DV is a stream from the camcorder to tape or over IEEE-1394 (Firewire). The stream can be contained in a file wrapper and then treated as packet data for OS copy, or for networked file transfers.
If you read out of the MAC file as a DV stream over IEEE-1394 firewire, the DV stream can be recorded back to tape or "captured" on the PC to a DV-AVI file and visa versa.
A DV.dv file can be converted to a DV stream or a DV.avi file in Quicktime Pro if I'm remembering correctly.
PS: Quicktime Pro spec isn't clear about export to DV-AVI.
