    Well this is strange.

Setup: Win2000 machine, Leadtek Winfast 2000XP expert card.

I can capture to various codecs... but with huffy i get a corrupt playback.

After some reading I removed huffy, then installed the 2.1.1 version.
Same result - no matter what options i use.

Capture at low medium or full overscan PAL res, with/without sound etc, makes no difference.
I thought the capture was corrupt till i tried to play it back on my older pc - it works fine there.
So it seems my playback is not working.

I tried the winfast PVR application first (capture program) then zplayer, then media player 6 - all the same.
I tried to cap a jpeg of the playback to show the problem (hit space in the PVR app to save a snap), but i get a good jpeg! no corruption! (thats how i found the files are ok, its just viewing them that is an issue).

Ideas on what might be wrong?
    I have a GF4-ti4200 vid card, with dx9a installed.

The older pc has win2k, and a TNT1 vid card - unsure on directX.

FYI, i personally find Huffy isn't the best for playback. As far as i'm concerned, it's the best interlaced full frame capture codec next to uncompressed YUY2. So if your intent is to reencode to .MPG, then this codec is the best..

    Good luck!!!

Yes my intent is to capture in huffy, then encode to mpeg2 later.
On the fly mpeg2 quality seems a bit poor.

  4. Capturing in HuffYUV at full resolution might be too much for your system to process or playback. Try an MJPEG codec at Q19 and see if you still have problems. HuffYUV is probably somewhere around 12-15 Mb/sec for full resolution capture, while MJPEG Q19 would only be 3-4 Mb/sec.

I had the same problem, heck I couldn't even open the files after encoding with the Huffy 2.2.0 codec. For whatever reason, Add/Remove programs doesn't remove all reference to the newer 2.2.0 Huffyuv codec
    in the Windows XP system.

After removing Huffyuv 2.2.0 via Add/Remove programs tool, and then installing the old standby Huffyuv 2.1.1, I could no longer get the older Huffyuy 2.1.1 version to work.

I went in and manually removed all reference to 'Huffy' in my Windows XP registery, using RegEdit, rebooted, and then reinstalled Huffyuv 2.1.1. This fixed the problem on my Windows XP machine.

Someone says selecting "always suggest RGB format for ouptut" will fix the Huffyuv 2.2.0 problem in Windows XP, but I havn't tried this.

    Good luck.
    Thanks,

WuphonsReach: As i said in my post, "Capture at low medium or full overscan PAL res, with/without sound etc, makes no difference. "

The file is not corrupt, just playback of any huffy material on my PC.

    Codesmythe:
Thanks for that - i have done basically the same, including searching the entire winnt (im on 2000) dir and deleting the huffy files, before i re-install 2.1.1.

I have the 2.1.1 installed now, and still have the problem.

Will try the RGB thing again - it didnt work last time i tried.
