I am getting a failure when attempting to play an AVI Xvid file in Virtualdub. It says "An out of bounds memory access occured in module 'XVID' while decompressing video frame 32 with XVID MPEG-4 Codec. etc...
The avi file plays well in windows. GSpot says I've got 5 compatible codecs installed...

OTOH, that it plays fine on WMP doesn't make the AVI error free. Try scanning it for bad frames with VirtualDub MP3 Freeze. Save a new copy of the AVI using Direct stream copy for both video and audio.

Vdub mp3 Freeze.... well... just freezes when loading the dvix, with the same error as mentionned above.
DivFix runs the file and shows no bad frames.
Saving as old avi file didn't fix it either. When I load the (new) avi, I get the same error message.
Indeed I have several codec packs installed. Should I remove some of them??? -

Remove them one by one using the Control Panel.

I had the same problem, VDub-MP3 crashed while I was checking bad frames. I used FourCC Code Changer (from K-Lite Codec Pack) to change the codec or something from XVID to DIVX and now it works fine. don't really know what I did, but hey, it works now.
