Hi there,
I'm a newbie in DVD backup world, but I think I found a pretty sure way to do it:
1.- Rip with DVD Decrypter
2.- If double layer, use Pinnacle InstantCopy to shrink it.
3.- Burn with DVD Decrypter.
The problem is that yesterday, I tried to backup "Unbreakable" (I think it's a DVD-R and time waste, but....friends asking for it) and it's "multi angle", so I took off extra languages, tracks and subs, and the movie is still 6 GBs.
Then I thought that may be eliminating angles 2 and 3 would do the job, so I tried to use multi-angle procesing (keep just angle 1), but when I tried to open the IFO in InstantCopy, it said "Corrupted DVD Sources".
So here are the questions:
1.- Would eliminating extra angles imply space saving?
2.- How can I eliminate those extra angles?
Thank you for your time,

Just Split the dvd on 2 dvd+r. But make sure 2 enter a menu, Ie/'Insert CD 2'. I find this preserves quality and it has all the options and stuff of the original.

LioCraft,
Try CloneDVD, DVDShrink, or DVDStripper. These 3 can let you see the second angle. For DVDShrink, only "reauthoring" can let you remove the second angle.

MPAA saying copying will dismantle the whole industries..which I don't buy it. You know that $10 you paid for the movie..$7 goes to the lawyers, $2 artists & producers, $1 tax and the theaters made $0 (btw this is not cause by inflation). The theaters only made money for selling Popcorn from the lobby..why do they want to brainwash the public this will hurt the industries? I think the public are fighting back.

LioCraft,
Yes that would work also. Both DVDDecryptor and SmartRipper will let you rip only one angle if you choose to.
I mentioned CloneDVD, DVDStripper, in case you want to keep the menu structure. But if you just want the main movie, than just rip the main movie with 1 angle. But you have to guess what angle. The other tools let you preview, so it's kinda convernient.

cut that crap about making copies to friend is illegal. Who gives a shit if we make illegal copies as long as you don't sell them. Anyways, Liocraft, use Shrink and it should be select to use auto compression. Even when the compression is 65% or below, the quality is still as good. BTW, use DvdDecrypter only if the movie is less then 4.7GB. Otherwise, use Shrink since it's free and works good.
