  1. Hi,
Currently I have an aging Panasonic E20, and it writes only to DVD RAM. My primary PC has capability for DVD RAM and DVD +RW/R -RW/-R and what not... however the rest of my family has dual format but NO DVD RAM capability on their PC's.

I would like to aquire a DVD +RW recorder to put cartoons and what not on more easily than having to put them on my system, then convert to DVD +RW ... however the Panasonic E20 permits editing of the content (I can remove commercials, and save space).

Are there DVD +RW recorders which support this capability, and if so, which if any are the low cost units?

    Thanks for any help!

  2. All DVD+RW/+R units will edit out commercials. The biggest diffence is that on DVD-RAM you can re-use the space you saved by editing the commercials, on DVD+RW you cannot.

  3. Ouch, is there a utility to figure out what was edited out to help recover the lost space? I really like recovering the space on my ram drive... and could live with the +rw drives not recovering the space, IF there was a utility to later go over it and remove the skipped portions.

Thanks by the way for your help... also suggestions on low cost units would be helpful.

Don't do it. The method is flawed. My site will explain it more soon.

If you want to edit, use a PC.

  5. Get the Panansonic E80 with the hard drive to edit its the best way to do it on a DVD recorder. Also PC is very good to edit.
