every time i try to convert a asf to avi (and i have tried a couple of them) and all the video and sound is outta sync... i have tried every combination of settings but i keep having the same problem

Ok, don't panic! All you need to do is find a guide on how to sync the video and audio together. Unfortunatley, there are none on this site, that I know of atleast, (Sefy maybe you could look into that) but there are some at Doom9 or you can use a program calledSynchronizer.

I'm not really the "expert" on AVI/ASF to MPG, i'm more of a DVD Source material kinda person, but lets see, try getting old version of VirtualDub (1.3c or 1.4 with ASF support) and then also TMPGEnc 12a which supports ASF.

use VirtualDub to save the Audio of the ASF into a new WAV file, then load the original ASF as the Video Input and the WAV as the Audio Input, then load a VCD/SVCD Template, and Encode.

the thing is that asf tools is suppose to synchronize the sound by it self (in a specific mode)... but it doesnt and i have tmpeg a.. and it converts just the video part... the sound is messed up./... and even when i try to encode sound by itself it does the same thing.... also NONE OF THOSE VIRTUDUBS HELP AT ALL.... THEY PIECES OF CRAP.... I am gonna dl the synchronizer and hope it helps... i will let u no

yea... i am havin a hard tme with the Synchronizer.... what do i do when i select the avi.. there is no real command to rescronized it... cause the avi is not un sync near the begining it starts to unsync all thru da movie... a little more each min... so how do i set the settings ???????
