    Hi!
    Here's the problem:
I ripped video to M2V file, which plays good in a soft player (LiteAlloy), is 2:13 , size ~7Gb and everything else is OK.
I open this file in Canopus Procoder, change the output bitrate, set Mastering Quality. Everything else remains unchanged.
So after 14 hours I get a M2V file that's about 3GB, but, when opened in the LiteAlloy, it shows the length about 45 mins, and playback is very jerky. Looks like a bunch of frames is just missing! However the entire movie is there, including end titles...
Does anyone know how to re-encode M2V file with ProCoder and get a correct M2V on output? What's wrong with Procoder anyways?

    Any help would be appreciated,

    nothing wrong with it ....

did you set source video type, aspect ratio , frame rate , etc ?

did you set target video type, aspect ratio , frame rate , etc ?

there are a LOT of settings to do in target (hit advanced ) and if not done -- it will look like crap ...

mastering takes a LONG time .. btw ....

hmmm... don't see anything wrong with settings..
    source:
    FrameRate: 29,97
    Non-Interlaced, Video: [16:9]
(I took it from DVD2AVI output, trustworthy?)

Target: MPEG2 Elementary Stream, 720*480, 29.970 Frame Rate, Non-Interlaced, Aspect Ratio: 4:3, Mastering Quality, 2PassVBR, VideoBitrate 3500-6000, DC Precision: 10... That's it. But doesn't work.

sounds like it had a pulldown applied -- maybe even a non standard one ..

maybe not though, but -- 29.97 is ussually interlaced , not progressive.

did you step through frames and see if there is a cadance ?

Actualy you're right, 29.9 is not progressive...
did you step through frames and see if there is a cadance ?
    Question: HOW?

Actually, I loaded the source M2V into VirtualDub, and in "File Info" it says 23.9 fps, however Procoder doesn't let me change the frame rate from 29.9 to 23.9, it's just disabled.. I'm confused...

    ahhh - ok ...

a little more info always helps

use pulldown.exe (get it here) on m2v file ...

you will be left with another file same size but new name..
    \

load that file into procoder ... procoder source should say 23.98

for target -- couple of options ... i'll tell you the procoder way first:

    set dvd as type

    29.97

    uppper field first

select advanced to get further menus

under pulldown - select 23.98 (never mind tool tip as it makes no sense) , never mind pulldown filter in adv options as it is for something diff - which i have not got to work)

and set other settings as you need ...

    done ...

    my way

select mpeg2 as type - instead of dvd and set everything by hand

select progressive encoding - no pulldown - 23.98 frame rate

    turn off dvd compliant ...

    etc etc etc ...

then use pulldown.exe again on result - except this time ADD pulldown in options ...

    done

    Hey BJ_M!
    need your help once again
I did everything you've said, and produced a perfect progressive 23.970fps m2v which plays ok in a player.
Now, I need to enable telecine on it, and I'm trying this

    pulldown src.m2v dst.m2v -prog_frames p -framerate 23.976

but it doesn't work. resulting movie is jerky again and has length of 1:05 instead of 2:13...

What would be the right way to enable pulldown on 24fps mov ?
    pls help

    pulldown srv.m2v dst.m2v

    That's all

    - John "FulciLives" Coleman

    P.S.
This will apply 3:2 pulldown to a progressive 23.976fps movie so that your DVD authoring software sees it as 29.970fps
