My girlfriend bought the looney tunes premier collection on dvd this weekend. When she plays the dvd on her AMW it has no sound after the main menu. We have tried settting up audio features on her dvd player and nothing seems to work, I made sure to check and her audio cables are plugged in correctly. She took the dvd back for an exchange and the new one does the same thing. So I took the dvd to my house and it plays perfectly on my apex.
Does anyone have an idea what would cause this? How can I reencode a copy of this so she can watch the video, (the store where she bought the video will not give her money back). Do I need to split the audio from the video switch the format and add it back? If that is what I need to do, how do I go about doing that or which forum is the best to post that question?
Any help is greatly appreciated
Greg

DVDDecrypter has the audio listed as AC3 1 channel in English and French on my Golden Collection. Could that be a simple mono/stereo setting on the DVD player?
Not sure...I'm just guessing here.
Mine plays normally on my DVD player....and I'm over here in PAL land (Germany). -
we have checked out all the settings we could find on the dvd player. that is what I thought also that it was just a setting that switches mono/stereo. but havent been able to find anything like that.

PLEASE...I'm not implying you are dumb but...
SOME of the toons have an added commentary on them which MAY require another audio channel. If the remote is set to that audio channel and there is no commentary for that toon...you won't hear anything....maybe.
You may want to make sure the tune you are watching does NOT have that additional commentary then hit the "audio" button on the remote.
Smurf...shouldn't even old machines handle AC3?
AGAIN....I'm guessing here. You folks have alot more knowledge of this stuff than I do. -
smurf, it isnt very old and plays everything else flawlessly. dvds, vcds, minidvd, +r,-r, any other commercial dvd that we have tried,
by the way thanks for all the info on your website, it has been a big help figuring lots of different things out about my ATI Card and capturing video -
If you have a spare DVDR....I would make a backup of the main cartoons only and remove all of the tracks except English.

thanks for the offer hech54 but I can do that with DVD Shrink, I wasnt sure though if I was going to have to do something like that or if I was going to have to split the audio from the video and change the format or something like that.

Yep....DVDShrink would be my choice for such an undertaking. I'm still not convinced changing the audio format would solve the problem though. That is why I suggested leaving only ONE audio track for the DVD player to recognize. That and the fact I've never changed audio formats before leaves me at "novice" status in that area....so....my advise stops here I guess...
Good luck to ya'...and please let us know what solved the problem.
