If you get that media player for it, then you can.

The gameshark one? or the downloadable one. The download one will, the gameshark one wont.

Ps2mediaplayer off the net (from some guys in Brazil or somewhere around there)

You just boot up with this cd if you have a modchip or use a boot disk and it will play divx movies on a cd but it will not play VCDs but you can convert VCDs into divx format that will play using the usual software tools
Used the mediaplayer a few times and it works ok I guess (it handles divx 3 and up pretty well and xvid)

Also if you have the DMS3 modchip or use the memory card loader program (with any other modchip or bootdisk) you can save the mediaplayer to a memory card and not have to use the CD anymore

The gameshark cd streams any type of the standard video/audio media formats from your computer to your tv using the ps2 as network device (you need the network adaptor to do this)
