  1. I keep getting this error 10 seconds after I try and save/encode any file in soft encode:

Sftencdd.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows

It's strange because I have two computers. Both, of which, it worked on for a while(different times) and then started giving me this error. Anyone else had a similar experience?

    Any solutions?
    Any comments?

  2. have you installed or changed anything on your pcs recently? did you try to uninstal and then re-instal the program? Is it just on this one audio file or all of them in general?

  3. I'm having the same glitch. I tried re-installing it but it crashes the same way, about 10 seconds into the encode.

I haven't changed anything on my computers,no. It's weird that it's happening on both of them, exactly the same way.I have unistalled/ reinstalled and tried deleting the registry etc - I still get the same error. It's not just the one audio file, no. It happens with all audio when exporting with this software.

  5. Ok, so no one has a solution, but does anyone have any alternatives to soft encode?

Yes for two channel, TMPGenc AC3 plugin. It will work as a standalone AC3 encoder.

I don't understand. You mean an upgrade for softencode so it turns into acid/vegas? or a plugin for acid/vegas? If the latter, do you mean Sony vegas?

    Hi there,

I dont know if this is a solution to the problem you where having but when I was using soft encode a while back I found that certain paths crash it.

namely if I tried to encode a wav file of d:\grabbed files\test\enterprise.wav it would collapse but if I encoded a wav file of d:\enterprise.wav all was well.

May be it doesn't like deeply pathed or long filenames ...

    Hope that helps

    Cheers

  11. Ok, so I tried smaller path names etc, but it didn't work. Thanks for the suggestion though.

As for the Vegas plugin, where can I obtain this, what is it called?

  12. Do U have Vegas Video 4.0? If so, set up your project, then go FILE>RENDER AS and output as AC3. A dialog will pop up and you will be directed to a purchase option.

I have Sony Vegas version 4e
It is called the 5.1 Surround Plug-in Pack, don't have the exact name (not at work)
