  1. I am looking at getting a couple of Ritek/Ridata G04 media that comes in the 50-pack and was wondering how good or bad these bulk packages are and what the overall feeling is on these.

A few weeks ago the answer would have been they are excellent but there's been a few posts on here recently where people have been unhappy with Riteks. Personally i've had no problems.

no problems with about 10,000 of them

ive seen some with discolored spots on the purple layer - but play fine ..

they also seem to have different versions of the same disk - some with white writing in the hub and some without ..

    i use the printable version

  5. I purchased a 50 pack of the disks shown below. The day after I purchased them I started to read Lordsmurf saying that they are not as good as he originally claimed. I got a little worried.

However, they arrived and I have used a dozen or so and they appear to be fine, the dye looks clear and smooth. Hopefully they will be OK. I have to say it is a bit of a headache as there is no reliable answer.

  6. I think recent quality scares might be unfounded. I see one or two alarmist posts here, but if you watch reviews around the 'net, there's almost universal happiness about Ritek these days. I use many myself and the success rate remains nearly 100 percent. I'm a buyer without reservation.

  7. I got a 50 pack, but not like those pictured above.......thay are plain top.

These won't burn at 4X in my Sony DRU-510A.

I have never had a problem with Ritek before, but I'm sending these back, and getting something else.

  8. I have always burned at 2x on my 4x disks to remove the chance of errors. This has proved successful, I know this is not the way to go but it saves throwing disks away.

Kool_Aid, I would be interested in hearing how you are getting on. I have the OEM of your burner and experience the same issues.

    Cheers

  9. also, left column, dvd media

plenty of comments. I don't know what a 50 pack refers to as you need the data code.

Ritek G04 50 pack bulk. To date I'm 178/180 (2 coasters, and I know Nero was at fault on one of them). I've tested about 20 in DVDINFO Pro and zero read errors.

  12. Thanks for all the replies, from what I have read and heard, it does seem that most people like the Ritek media and have no problems with them.

I do have one other question about this media, has anybody heard of or bought the media direct from Ritek and not through some kind of store or on-line website?

I ask as the place I am looking at getting some from no longer carries the Ritek bulk packs that come in the red/white plastic wrapping and have the Ridata name on the hub. They say they get a better price by buying direct from Ritek itself and that the media comes in a clear plastic wrap and does not have the Ridata name etched on the hub.

I do not want to name the web site as I do not want to start any problems for them and because I have not found a bad post about them on any of the forums I have visited.

I have bought the original Ritek/Ridata media from them before, but not since they switched to this factory direct brand and I am just curious if this is on the "up and up" so to speak or if these could be some kind of Fake Media with the Ritek code on them.

for a direct order - i believe the min. quality is 50,000+ pieces per order .. though there a few "sub" distro companies that break this up (like meritline and others) ..

riteks also seem to come from 2 or 3 sources ... from american channel distribution (where 90% of all computer stuff comes from in the usa) , from asia direct , from ritek us companies .. and reports are there are different quality standards (i got this from a meritline post here)

i guarantee you the media is compatabile with your burner. whether or not you like the results is up to you. check on the left in the dvd writers list and the dvd media list to find reviews from tons of people with your same burner using this media
