  1. Hi all

    Simple question:-

Is there a way to convert a stereo wave file to 5.1?

I have tried BeSweet, but all I get when I convert to 5.1 is static!
I have tried the convert to "6 Wave Files" option and it works but for some strange reason each file when played back plays much too quickly, just like a tape on fast forward!

    Any help greatly appreciated

    Dan,

I do it with Vegas 4. I load stereo wav, then pan the sound in Surround Panner. Then encode to AC3 with Vegas DD plug-in. It is not real 5.1, but it sounds much better than just stereo.

    Regards.

  3. Yep it's called Dolby ProLogic II

    :P

Seriously though..sometimes smearing the frequencies around the surround field end up making it sound thin and just bad overall. But then again the only other option is getting ahold of the master which is probably not an option for most of us...just hope they release it in DVD-Audio/SACD/DTS CD.
