Ok so I have an AC3 file called blahblah -207.mp2 that was extracted from a disc, HOWEVER I need to import it into DVD Maestro and to do so need it in AC3 format.

I tried using Baldricks guide and it SEEMs to work and even Media player plays the audio, but when I make the disc and play it in power DVD it has no sound.

Not to be beaten I loaded it into SoftEncode and encoded it there.... but the resulting file is only about 1/10th of the legnth its suppose to be.

    Any ideas on whats happening?

  2. do you have ac3 filter installed?

i had the same problem with an ac3 file that wouldn't play any sound on any of my players. media player, powerdvd, etc, turns out the ac3 file was nero ac3 audio file. I downloaded and installed ac3 filter and it worked fine.

I can play the file fine in a media player. Just the DVD player application has no sound when I finish authoring it.

Have you tried authoring it with another program such as tmpgenc dvd author to see if it does the same thing?Might be the audio stream has an error in it.

  5. yeah, my experience was similar. I couldn't hear the file in powerdvd as well.

you might want to put the file through gspot or avicodec and see what codec it is using. just a suggestion...take it for what it's worth.
