  1. between cbr 3000-4000, waht format do you prefer, SVCD( 480x576) or DVD (720x576)

I know that in the SVCD case is not a standar bitrate, but anyway.

I maketrying, and i think i can see more artefacts in action scenes in 720x576, but any other information is welcome.

    thanks.

If the bitrate is the same, the smaller frame size will usually look better.

1/2 D1. It's DVD complient (which SVCD isn't). Bitrate of 4000 is more than adequate to be artifact free (assuming the source isn't crap). I usually use CQ myself (2-pass VBR doesn't seem to be any better than CQ unless you are really tight on bitrate).

352x480 (Half D1) using CQ of 85% from 4000 ... or VBR of 3500 avg and 5000 max, 0 min

    CBR sucks unless it's really high (4000-5000 for HalfD1, 8000-9000 for FullD1)

  6. As I understand it, 1/2 D1 only supports 4:3 on dvd's,and not 16:9, so this may influence your decision. If it's 4:3 and you want to 1/2 D1, you will need to letterbox the vid.
