"SONY R/W CD "
From what you posted here...it seems you put a DVD in a CD-ROM...you cant do that, hence the terms "C" & "D"...you need to go buy a DVD-ROM drive. -
Now guys take it easy, the guy doenst know so we tell him, no need for laughter, anyways as Kdiddy said, DVD have a different optic laser reading device that it can obly read the DVD,s...let me make it more simple, if you can read DVD's on ur cd-roms, then whats the point of a DVD-ROM? for ripping dvds? LOL.....ok so now u know, DVD roms for $100 or cheaper, but trust me, if your gonna buy one, buy it to rip dvds, watching dvds on ur PC is pointless and ur monitor is not big as your TV! Ok so take it from me, go get a dvd player to watch dvds, their cheap, and go work at a Video sotre so you can get pre released dvds and rip them for a big SVCD group and ull get access to every 0-sec imaginable, well sorry for that tip, ok later

yeah that was funny, most people ask this question FIRST before they try...I have never seen anyone actually TRY first, then ask...LOL.

Thanks for taking the time to supply the answer for a nubie. I'm glad I at least provided a chuckle for you.
Also, I having problems getting quality audio from my CDs
when I play them on my turn table, do I need to upgrade the needle? current setup sound very scratchy, and the CDs don't work very well afterward
Thanks Again. -
*chuckle*
Yes you will need to upgrade the needle. Sounds like you have one of the prototype CD players . Try strapping a small flashlight (torch for you europe types) to the end of the arm then bounce the reflection through a prism to a photoelectic diode. From there the signal should be then amplified and transmitted to an old sea shell.
Scratches can be minimized by filing the 'needle' flat
hope this helps -
don't laugh.
last summer i rented a dvd cause ati said it's card offered dvd playback.
i thought their was a patch that made cd-roms read dvds.
i also tried my cd-rw.
i learned.
kinna a waste of money.
dvd-roms r also extremely nice in laptops.
and ripping isn't the only reason.
i saw a program yesterday that used dvd's instead of cd's. -
Go into your Windows folder and I think you will find, beyond the folders, a dvd player! Few people know that windows include a dvd player with 98 and ME. I don't know if it is bundled with 2000.
C:\WINDOWS\DVDPLAY.EXE
