How do I create a DVDthat will play on a standard DVD player? This is not my disc, but I was asked if this could be done. I'm pretty sure it can be done, but I need to know how.

    Thanks, all!

    Author the DVD.

The video needs to be mpeg compliant. Look to the left: "tools", "authoring tools"

In general if it plays on a PC it should play on a player, but we have no information to go on so it could be due to a variety of reasons why it won't play on a player.

    1) The DVD is fine, but the player is old.
    2) The player has a problem with the media brand used. Most discs sold in the USA and Canada for consumers are garbage.
    3) The disc may be dual layer and the player may be old enough that it simply won't play any DL media. I have seen this on some older players.
    4) There is something very non-standard about the video and/or audio that violates DVD specs and the player is refusing to play it as a result.

If you are being asked to fix this DVD, maybe it can be fixed, but someone would have to determine what the exact problem is first before you could get advice on how to fix it. And as a new member I want to warn you about 2 things.
    1) The less you tell us about what you want to do, and you have provided very little details here, the less likely we can help you. I provided 4 possible explanations for your problem and for all I know there could even be something else to blame since we don't know what media was used, what the player is, how the disc was made, what's on it, and so on.
    2) To be blunt, if you are new and you have to ask for help with this kind of issue, I want to warn you that the fix may take a lot more time and effort than you are willing to do. If you are looking for a very easy, user friendly way to fix this type of problem, you'll probably end up needing to buy software to do it. There are always freeware solutions but usually those require more effort and time to learn than most new people want to do.

The MP3 PLAY heading on that screen would suggest to me you've burnt the disk in DATA mode rather than VIDEO mode, and the player is looking for data files (MP3, JPG, etc) to open. When you put that disk in a PC what shows when you open the disk in Windows Explorer? You should only see a VIDEO_TS folder and maybe a second (optional) AUDIO_TS folder too. If you see a list of file names you've done it wrong

I didn't do the original burn so I don't know how it was originally done. I've copied the folder from the disk to my PC now I just need to know what to do now. I need it explained in non tech speak as I'm not that familiar with this process. I did download DVDFlick and I'll be going through the instructions today at some point.
