Hello all, This message is merely a helpful hint I discovered that seemed to (temporarily) fix the decompression issue with Toast 6 and DVD2one.

Apparently I am not the only one with this problem and the author of DVD2oneX should recognize this point and FIX THE BUG. For this explanation I was using South Park:Season 3 (three 7.6G DVDs).

I had copied a few DVDs just fine using DVDBackup 1.3 --> DVD2oneX 1.3.0 (Mac OSX) --> Toast 6.03 before I tried these three 7.6G each South Park DVDs. And because of some bug in either DVD2oneX or Toast 6, the file size, no matter what number amount I used in the DVD2one process, in Toast would still read 7.6G.

I recently read that you are supposed to use the DVD-DATA tab to burn DVDs in Toast 6 and not the Video tab. It also didn't work for these S.Park DVDs. Well, I had been using the Video tab all this time and it has worked fine for movie only burns until I tried South Park. I could span through an entire 6 episode .VOB file from the VIDEO_TS folder of one of the S.Park discs in the Video view (using the little blue arrow under the file) and literally see them all back to back. The entire movie was there, but was still 7.6G for some strange reason. And even wierder, there were six differently named .VOB files from the VIDEO_TS folder that all contained the exact same 6 episode clip that you could span through in DVD-Video View of Toast.

I read somewhere that running the VIDEO_TS folder through DVD2one a 2nd time sometimes might fix the bug and get Toast to see the file as less than 4.4G, where its supposed to be. That didn't work.

So, this may sound a little crazy but, I decided to run it through DVD2one a 3rd time and for some reason I quit it in the middle of the process because I was frustrated and didn't want to waste anymore time or DVDs. But I looked at the half processed VIDEO_TS after just for kicks and lo' and behold, the .VOB in it showed the correct size in Toast DVD-Video view!, but since I stopped it in the middle only half of it was there. I processed it through DVD2one again and this time I stopped the process right at 99% just a few seconds before it was done. The clip was there!!! All 6 episodes!!! And even better, I experimented further with the other two 7.6G S.Park discs, changing the variable in DVD2one and they work perfectly also!!

MY SOLUTION: If you quit the DVD2oneX process just before its done at 99%, for some reason you should find a .VOB file in the new VIDEO_TS folder that contains the whole movie and shows the correct file size in DVD-Video view of Toast*. Don't worry about cutting off the end of the movie because it is only extras and credits at the end of the VIDEO_TS file anyway. You can also change the user defined number in DVD2one to whatever you want, always being able to see the changes in file size perfectly reflect the DVDs new compressed .VOB movie files. So just find and drag the right .VOB from VIDEO_TS into Toast DVD-View tab after you stop compression prematurely and it should fit on a 4.7G DVD (if you entered a good compression value). If you are frustrated with DVD2one not compressing correctly or at all, try this method out and let me know if it works for you. I know it sounds crazy but, it worked for me a number of times now and nothing else worked.

*NOTE: The actual .VOB files when viewed off the hard drive still look like they are their original size but, when you put them in Toast Video Tab after stopping compression at 99% the little blue meter next to the record button only fills up respectively to how much you compressed it, like its supposed to. Whoppeee!!

Sorry about the long explanation! Take Care and Good Luck!
