I have AverTV.DVB-T card installed, it records fine both from TV and vhs
vcr, but,, the soft ware I have been trying to use seems to have info
missing and doesn't make sense in places, I think it was translated and bits got lost/corrupt in the translation.
The software is InterVideo WinDVD 4 with Media Manager silver.
Having read some of this site I d/loaded VirtualDub-1.5.10, but when I try to load any of my recordings it sez "This file contains no video frames" and just wont open/read them..
My recordings 'claim' to be mpeg files, and play ok in Win media player (old and new) and Irfanview.. I have managed to copy one to CD and it plays fine on my PC, erm but wont play on anyone else's!!![]()
My TV card wont let me 'pause' a recording in order to leave out 'bad' bits
and has no Edit features whatsoever.. M.M.Silver does, but I cant
understand the info given.. I am trying to record old family videos and
transfer them onto CD..Sounds easy enough? lmho.. Can anyone help please?
Having read a few threads I think I'd better tell you I only understand
about %5 of the postings I have read..
Thanks, James..

Hi James.
You say your MPEG file, burned to a CD, will play fine in your computer but not on your home player. It sounds like the MPEG file may have just been burned onto the disc without any file structure.
Let's start with the basics.
* Are these MPEG files MPEG-1 (VideoCD) or MPEG-2 (SVCD/DVD)?
I assume they're MPEG-1 since CD is your destination? -
Hi Indolikaa
thanks for the reply..
it plays on my PC CDROM but wont play on anyone elses PC? I am trying to copy to CDROM only.. my DVD player is not working right now.. causes conflicts..I will swop for another when i get time..
When saved via my tv card from VSH to onboard folder on my PC the file information simply says - Size-- Movie file (mpeg) - and date. no other info is given?
" Properties" only tells me the same things. no details as to mpeg type or number? any way i can find out if its mpeg-1 or mpeg-2 format?
If its any help. when i managed to copy one to CDROM the file size on the CDRom was almost identical to the original file size on my PC.
I have started to copy a VHS into my PC, but the video is a 3 hour one, and so far I have dozens of HUGE files on my PCfortunately thats not todays problem, I will worry about that later.. lol..

I just hit the AVer website in the UK. All it says is that you can record to MPEG-2, so that's probably the stream type.
Download VirtualDub MPEG-2, not the original VirtualDub. Then try to load your MPEG file. If it's MPEG, this specific version of VirtualDub will parse it (it may take a short amount of time) and then you can access it. -
Thanks a lot Indolikaa.
I was begining to lose the will to live! lol... Been strugling with this prob for weeks now..
I hope the VirtualDub mpeg 2 is easier to d/load than the first one was, it kept sending me to new sites for ages!! and even finding the actual d/load link took foerever, i got a very "unwanted" feeling. lol.
By the way the techies on "Andyspares GSF" gave me this URL. they speak very highly of you all, even if "Baldrick" does live here.. lmho
