  1. ok i know that this questions has come up everyonce in a while, and i have searched for it but it never completely says how to fix this.

I am putting some anime fan subs on to dvd but everytime i do it it cuts the subs off at the bottom. I have used TMPGEnc to resize it and in ulead video editor it looks fine but when i put it in ulead dvd workshop 2 it goes back to normal. can some one please tell me what i have done wrong or a better way of doing this.

  2. It looks to me that you are letting Ulead DVD workshop re-encode. There is a settings tick box somewhere that says 'do not convert compliant mpegs' or something similiar. Find it and make sure it is checked.

  7. Other AUthoring programs (that won't re-encode):-

    Ifoedit (basic but free)
    TmpGenc DVD Author
    DVD-Lab.

One other thing, are the subs cut off on the TV, or do you actually see it in ulead. Make sure you don't put the subs right at the bottom of the picture as this gets cut off by the TV. Its called overscan. Do a forum search for more info.

  8. The subs a cut off only on the tv because of overscan

  9. I've had the same problem. The fansubs are too low for most TVs with their overscan

I got it working by adding a black border around the video. You can do this in TMPGEnc under the MPEG settings:

    Click Advanced Tab
    Double Click "Clip Frame"
    Click "Arrange Setting"
Select Arrange Method: Center (custom size)
Change the size, and click OK

Make sure you keep the aspect ratio the same.
e.g. if outputting NTSC 720x480 (720/480=1.5) then custom sizes of 660x440 (660/440=1.5) or 600x400 (600/400=1.5) would be correct.
