  1. I am backing up a few of my DVD's with Decrypter and Clone DVD. I am trying to preserve the menus and clone DVD has this ability over DVD Shrink.

Here's the problem/question, when loading my ripped file into Clone DVD I get a compression of 50% without menu's and 46% with menu's preserved. Then I go to the next screen and remove a bunch of hte adio streams I don't want. The compression doesn't change when I go back to the previous screen even though a lot of audio is removed.

DVD Shrink was able to compress up to about 60% when I removed all the extra audio and subtitles.

I don't want to lose much quality but I feel that 46% is going to be quite noticable. What is the highest compression without much video quality loss I should go for?? Is there any way I can get a lower compression and still maintain menu's??

Any suggestions are very much appreciated. Thanks very much.

  2. you wont see the difference in takin the audio out by going to the previous screen, but it will give better quality. that should be fixed soon.

  3. Does it have similar compression to DVD Shrink??

At what compression does video quality become noticable??

  4. its almost the same as shrink. as for video, depends on the bitrate on the original movie. higher bitrate=more it can be compressed and look good.

with PowerDVD or similar player right-click on the movie as it plays and select properties. should show the bitrate as movie plays...changes quickly as you might imagine.
