  1. Hi, i was hoping someone could help me, my monitor broke down a wee while ago, and i was looking for a new one. From what ive seen, id rather go for a tft monitor, and apparently iyama seem to be the best at that. However i was wondering if i could use an LCD TV? if that was able to connect to my computer??

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

The best price i could find was £310 for a 17" Iyama tft monitor

    thanks

Sure you can hook one up, if your video card has some type of TV out on it. But your resolution will suck. You'll have to use 800x600 or something like that.

    Smoke,

800 X 600 is more than a standard monitor's resolution. My VooDoo 3000, for Pete's sake, warns that it will reset output to that, does so, and the TV display is excellent.

Hassali's biggest problem might be getting some visual interface, a GUI, to see what he is doing. How do you get into Control Panel to set output to TV if your monitor is dead? It does not default to "Whatever is connected".

    It is specific.

    Cheers,

    George

You need to read and comprehend. I never said it will only work at 800x600. You just won't be able to read the icons that's all, they'll be the size of a thumbtack if not smaller with a setting that high or higher. Standard TV's are 640x480 (I think)

You're correct, he'd have to use another monitor to set it up.
