  1. Hello. I have a movie that is spilt into 2 parts and I want to merge them together into one. I just want to make sure I have this correct.
I open Tmpgenc and then goto Mpeg tools and input the files into Merge and Cut. I take that Merge and then press Simply Demultiplex and input the merged file I just created into that. Then take the video file and input it to SVCDtoDVD and the finished product I burn to DVD. Am I correct on this?

If they are both the same, and adhere to the specs required to create/author DVD, SVCD2DVD will combine them and also perform the conversion/author process...
Never had to use anything else but SVCD2DVD unless the format of the video files was not to spec..

    Hi Vinny!

Why should you go to all this trouble beforehand? There is no need. SVCD2DVD does it all for you. Just make sure the two parts (in the right sequence) are placed in the same VTS and check that they are under the Author Tab. SVCD2DVD then, after changing the sound to 48K, turns your two separate files into as many VOBs as needed.

VOBs have a maximum length of 1 Gb. So, if the total volume of the two parts together is, say, 1.5 Gb, it will take the first SVCD file and add circa one third of the second making the first VOB, and another VOB of the remaining 0.5 Gb of the second file. The IFO files then tell the standalone player where to find what. To all effects and purposes, your 2 SVCDs have been turned into one movie.

If you were to join the two files beforehand, SVCD2DVD would do the same: split your monster file at the 1 Gb position to make the first VOB, and use the rest for the second.

  4. For some reason I thought you had to merge the files together first. I am in the process of running svcd2dvd right now. Right now it says Demultiplexing original MPG file. ow long does it usually take? SVCD2DVD is not frozen...but its been at this stage for a while now. Does it usually take a long time?

  6. OK.....I followed the instructions . And this is what happens. I have 2 svcd movies that have two parts each. I arrange them and author them with svcd2dvd. I press start and the program runs and runs. I have the movies in a file in my C drive of my computer. And I have the output of SVCD2dvd going to the same folder in that drive. While the program is running I checked the total GB of the folder and it says 17.5GB. Thats a ton. Last night i let the program run and all of a sudden I get the message that the C Drive GB space is almost used up. WHy is SVCD2DVD running up so high in GB space...the output of these 2 SVCD movies shouldnt be 15 gb. I cant understand. It says Demultiplexing original MPG file....and it keeps going and going and growing. Anyone ever have this problem? Am I doing something wrong here?

  7. From what i've gathered from using it for a few days

It creates a few .mpg's before compling the .vob's...

So itll take up alot of hd space as its doing it, then you can delete all the output files it made, except for the audio and video TS files, which youll be burning...

    Hi Vinny!

This problem turned up ages ago and has been extensively treated in the Forum. It was 'honoured' with a program correction in Configuration->Options where there is a choice now between 'Mpgtx' and 'bbDMUX' as a demultiplexing utility.

I guess you used Mpgtx. Try bbDMUX instead.
