  1. I looked up my dvd player on this site for info on what it can do. I have a JVC xv-523. I looked at the posts and half the people claim to be able to play vcd's "no problem" and another half have the same trouble i have. The time clock runs but there is no video or sound. I used TMPGEnc and followed the guides for creating a vcd... does the program i use to write the cd matter. I use Adaptec Easy CD Creator. Another person on the post used the same program and had the same problem. Maybe its related? any help would be awesome. thanks

  2. are you encodeing vcd or svcd? what bitrate are you useing? i had the same problem with my Apex and i realized my encoding bitrate was WAY too high. that fixed my problem at least with vcd's. i still have yet to get a svcd to play on it. i still have the same problems with that....

  4. How did you burn your encoded MPEG? If it was w/ Nero that could be the problem. Instead use VCDImager (this is a command line program so I would acually use VCDImager Easy, click to the left on Author) to make an image of your MPEG, and then burn that.

Under author you can find a link that will allow you to d/load VCDImager, VCDImager Easy, and CDRDAO. So you can load your MPEG -> make bin/cue -> burn in one step.
