  1. I am try (but failing) to create a mpeg to use in my menu using tmpgenc dvd author, Here is the problem im having:

when i try to add the created mpg file i get this error message:

The current bitrate is 9800 kbps for video, 224 kbps for audio, and 10024 kbps combined.
It is necessary with a combined bitrate of less than 9.848Mbps (9848kbps).

i have tried to adjust the setting in tmpgenc plus but no matter what i do when it completes the process i always have the same error when trying to add the file as background for menu.

that is after adjusting birates so that it will definitley be lower
    than the max allowed.

There must be something im missing here but i cant figure out what it is

can anyone point me in the right direction or if possible give me a step by step guide to making tmpgenc stick to the settings i set
No program is idiot proof! I can prove it :-)

I hope you are not too bummed that I'm not answering your exact question. BTW ... it seems when I used the Tmpgenc Encoder ... I didn't have any problems changing the bitrate to a lower one.

Maybe you need to do a mouse ... right-click ... to unlock the settings.

But I use InterVideo WinDVD Creator 2 ... for Mpg creation instead. TDA seems to make only ... for the menu ... Mpg-2 videos with LPCM audio. If the video I have for the menu has AC-3 audio ... TDA will make a menu with silent audio.

When using WinDVD Creator 2 ... you can output your file in file mode and have three choices of audio to choose from ... Mpg or LPCM or AC-3.

The choices for bitrate and resolutions for creating Mpg-2 videos are very generous.

So you could use WinDVD Creator 2 for editing the video used for your menu.

I've sent you a PM message.

The solution to your problem is to simply ignore the "max bit rate exceeded" warning. Hit continue anyway and it will author with no problem.

I use CCE basic for encoding and for 2pass VBR, it always writes 9800 as the avg bit rate regardless of what the actual bit rate might be. If you want, you can change the header info using something like Restream to avoid the warning in Tmpgenc DVD Author, but I have found that it works by simply ignoring it--at least for me. I've never had any problems playing discs authored this way on different players.

Give it a try. Hope this helps.

I've haven't had any luck with the menu having AC-3 audio in the video I provided.

But my menu will have audio if the video I use for my menu uses LPCM audio.

Intervideo WinDVD Creator 2 helps me there ... 3 choices ... mpg audio or LPCM audio or AC-3 audio.

Example Picture. Use button that has color added to it.

Resolution 720x480 ....... bitrate ... 7200. You don't have to make a DVD folder with it ... just make a DVD compliant mpeg video file. I've made some huge ones 7 Gigs. I then use Tmpgenc dvd author ... to author it.

Oh yeah ... I remember that error message too ... I ignore it also.

Reread your posts. I gather that you want to create an MPG to be used as a motion menu item in TDA from a JPG and WAV file as input.

I've done this successfully using Premiere. Simply import your image (JPG) and audio (WAV) files to the timeline. Then adjust the duration of your image to match that of your WAV file and export to an MPG using the onboard encoder. Make sure that you enable the motion menus properly within TDA. I presume that any other editing software would work as well. Don't know how you've used Tmpgenc Plus in this process. Didn't know it could import JPG files directly????

    Hope this helps.
