TMPGEnc DVD Author AC-3 Plugin

This AC-3 plugin is okay ... I guess ... I havent tried it yet.

But ... from what I can see ... it will only convert from Mpeg Audio.

Wont convert LPCM audio.

I use InterVideo WinDVD Creator 2 and it already converts my files to AC-3 audio.

Now ... will it convert the videos I use in the Menu to AC-3.

I usually take a small section from the main video and use it for a preview in the menu ... in the past ... I wont hear any sound if I use a section directly from the video with AC-3.

But if I copy a section of the video and convert it to LPCM ... and use it in my menu ... I get audio in my menu.

My Question ... can I now use that video in my menu ... but instead of LPCM ... I will have Mpg audio instead

And let TMPGEnc DVD Author convert the audio in the video for my menu to AC-3 ... hmmm ... sounds like I need to mess around with it and see if it will.

Are you sure about the LPCM format? Seems like I read other reports that users could convert without a hitch.

One user reported converting DV type 1 with PCM audio into AC3. I asked if an intermediate file (MP2 etc) was created and he said no.

I just got the AC-3 Plugin ... hours ago ... so dont know for sure.

I was just looking around ... inside the help files and such ... to see where it says ... how it works ... I'm still vague about it's abilities.

I had a class at 9:30 AM ... I couldn't get into this class and the waiting list was maxed out ... so I'm showing up ... hoping someone will find this class boring.

HS-10 ... "Aging' .... interesting in the beginning but gets boring at the end ... like do we really want to study for a test ... trying to remember how many persons will be over 65 in the year 2525.

I tried it out ...

When you set up chapter points in TDA ... you can hear audio now.

When you choose the video to play as the image in background for menu ... you can hear the audio ... when previewing.

Yes it will convert videos with LPCM or MPEG audio ... to AC-3 audio.

But ... after TDA has made the DVD Video ... the audio in the menu will still be LPCM.

Hmmm ... Seems I have to create a special video with LPCM audio if I want use a specific background video in the Menu ... or I wont hear any audio in the menu.

Why can't I have AC-3 audio for my menu ... too ????
