I heard that capturing wiht MJPEG for later conversion for VCD/SVCD is not recommended because it is a loss system being coverted to a lossless system.
I'd like to you more about this.
What is the real difference between capturing in uncomp/huff and Mjpeg in terms of converting to MPEG-2 (quality, size, time, etc)
Thanks,

Uncompressed or HUFF is lossless compression, where you can get a 2:1 data compression or so. It will save a little bit on your hard drive space, but not much. Mjpg has a wide range of compresion, from 2:1 to 200:1. If you stay under 10:1, the normal human eye will not notice the artifacts in moving images, but you might see it if you study a still image and look at edges. However, a 10:1 data compressin makes a huge difference in hard drive space, like a 20 gig file will only be 2 gig with a 10:1 "visually lossless" compression of Picvideo Mjpg compression. If you have tons of hard drive space, then use uncompressed video for a small increase in quality.

If you have the HD space and bus bandwith to spare use huffyuv, otherwise use MJPEG with a high ( PicVideo 17-19 ) setting. I use it all the time to convert to (s)vcd without any ill effects. Keep the compression ~10:1 or better or it will start to matter.
don't bother with uncomp when huffyuv is availible.
