  1. I created a VCD by the book using TMPGenc 12a and then using Nero to burn the CD. I followed the directions to a T. No problems. I have a Sony PlayStation 2 but when i put the disc in it will not read the CD. Please Help.

  2. If you want to be sure it's the VCD's fault then I suggest you try playing it on either your PC or a true DVD Standalone and not on a Sony PS2, as it may be able to play VCD's, it doesn't work well with all types of CDR media.

  3. The PS2 dosent play VCD's, it can with a mod chip though, about $10-15, look on the net

  4. Really? I thought that there is still no way for a PS2 to playback VCDs... and I don't see how a modchip could change this (unless it contains code for a VCD player as well).

  5. well.....

The PS2 CAN play vcd movies....ehm....kinda......
There is a special tool to create/burn VCD movies to a disc which is playable on the PS2. Only problem is that those disc in turn cannot be played on a VCD/SVCD/DVD player

You can download the software to make one of these discs here:
    http://granavenida.com/vcdspain/down/psx2/ps2.htm
The site is in Spanish. As far as i can see all software here is legal.

Hope this helps clear things up for ya'all.

  6. Of course you are correct.

However, I don't consider these discs "VCDs".

  7. ehm, well there not.

I totally agree with you. These are just a way of getting your movies to play on a PS2. They have NOTHING to do with vcd's
