  1. I'm new to the burning end of things here and I'm browsing through the forums frequently to answer my questions. Here's one that should be relatively easy to answer that I can't quite pin down...I don't think:

How to you differentiate between a DVD5 and a DVD9? Can you tell by simply looking at the size of the disc? DVD9>4.4 gb?

I suppose this is an easy matter for the experts here but it's confusing to me.

    Thanks!

  2. Thank you.

And, I assume, that 1 layer is a DVD5 correct?

  3. You could go with the ol' poor boy way and look at the bottom. Silver - 5, goldish - 9. That used to be the case anyway

And of course it's very, very rare to see a double sided disc with both sides being 9 (though I seem to remember one I had was 9 on one, 5 on the other side).. so usually if you have a disc with something on both sides it's going to be a dvd5

    Actually, its:
    Purple - 5, single layer
    silver - 9/10, double layer
    goldish - 15, triple layer.

  6. Can I just say because otherwise someone will try it, that you should not under any circumstances put a goldFish in your DVD recorder.

The capacity on them is terrible and besides, you have to drill a hole in them to let the drive's spindle hub go through. It's just not worth the effort.

Rich Tea biscuits are far superior.
