  1. I have been using DVD Shrink for a while and get many problems. When using DVD Shrink only about 80% actually work properly. First problem when I go to Open Disk and select my drive then DVD Shrink freezes on me. . THen I have to go to Opn Files and select the Video_TS.ifo files to make it load. What happen is a screen pops up and says; hread failed The reason is Incorrect function. The same thing also appers when I try to backup the files onto my hard drive. . I am using a refurbished Pioneer DVR-105/A05 and had it sice Summer of 2003. Also just when I want to play movies from the dvd and watch it on my computer the movie plays but freezes and plays freezes and plays. . I need someone to tell me how to resolve the problem or do I need a new dvd writer.

Insert the disk and give it 30 seconds to settle out, then open shrink and open disk. If I insert my disk then immediately open disk it Shrink it get's squirrely. I get 'No Disk'. I repeat this and eventually get it opened, but every now and then it simply barfs and locks up.

Never re-use a shrink window to open a new disk, it just gets confused.

Personally I would still get a Pioneer, just not a refurbished unit.

    DVDPirate,

Magic spin 8X at Office Max this week, 179, 50 Instant rebate, 50 mail-in rebate, 80 bucks final. That's a dual format machine +/-.

Anyone bought one? What's in the box, a LiteOn, or something else?

Bought an 8X at Staples, yesterday, 129 after rebate. If this is a LiteOn, think the one I bought is going back.

Hope for a reply to this ? before I go to the store. Might even buy one regardless of brand.

They also have Khypermedia +R, 25 pack, 10 buck rebate, 10 buck final. A little pissed that they are adverising them when I have a rain check for them and no call from them.

I don't care if they are not reliable to some people. At 40 cents each, I can afford to try them. They're no good, so be it.

    Cheers,

    George
