  1. hello, im a newbie. now that we all know that heres my beef.

I just bought my first dvd burner a few weeks ago. my friend had a disc with xcopy on it, and loaded it on my computer months ago. i believe it was a freeware trial version or something. he got it off kazaa before all that madness over copyrights went main stream, and people were getting sued. anyway, I tried to use it but it wouldnt read my burner. we tried everything, and still nothing. my friend said thats what you get for free, so I did the noble thisng, and bought xcopy plat 2 weeks ago. I installed it on my computer and all seemed to be fine until it started freezing in the middle of my backups. it would get a few minutes into the actual burning process, and then say finalizing, and freeze the whole computer. i could do nothing. no ctrl, alt, del, or anything. I had to turn off the power button. I remembered after this happened a time or two that I hadnt taken the old version of xcopy from my friend off my computer. when I tried to uninstall it, it told me it wasnt there, and to take the uninstall icon off the list. I did, and then went and deleted every dvd xcopy file i could find, new, and old. I reinstalled xcopy, and still no luck. it still freezes sometimes during the burning process when making a backup dvd. sometimes it works fine, sometimes it doesnt. but everytime it freezes I click on the "x" in the upper right corner to close it out, and it tells me to cancel it first. that would be alright with me but you cant. there is no option to do anything. all the menus are locked. I should point out this happens while im actually using the xpress program.

my guess here is (and i really am not a computer guy at all so i could be WAYYYYYY wrong here) something, probably the old xcopy is conflicting with the new one.

Seems like every since I installed xcopy plat to my computer the whole thing is running slow. I know when I click on the quick icon for xcopy it takes a long ass time to load the program. like a mintue or so. the smal xcopy box comes up in the middle of the screen, and then goes away for like a minute. fianlly the program opens.

can anyone help me here? Id appreciate any feedback. thanks.

  3. If you have a slow computer is might take xcopy a bit to open, but I am guessing that you don't. I have used xcopy express and have not had any problems, but your computer and the 321 studios software is not working well together. I would reinstall both pieces of software and then uninstall. Do a disk cleanup and go download DVDSHRINk 3 beta and use that to encode and then use Nero or another kind of software to burn. I know this is not an answer to your question, but I am going to save you a $100. Take Xcopy Platinum back and use dvdshrink. I promise you will be happier with it. There are some links to really good guides on this site, check them out.
