    Hi, guys:
I tried to encode AVI into DivX with Virtual Dub, it came out very well, the only correction I had to make was to change the extension of the resulting file from .avi to .divx. However, when I use a Fast Recompression option, as recommended in https://www.videohelp.com/avi2divx.htm
the resulting image is upside down.
When I use Full Recompression mode, the image is normal. I tried this with 2 different clips, the results were the same. VirtualDub gave me the following warning:
"Fast Repack mode is selected. This can significantly speed up recompression times, but may cause errors with codecs that do not properly support YUV formats. Check your output to make sure the input and output codecs are compatible."
    A guide on
    http://www.divx-digest.com/articles/avi2mpeg4.html
says that Full Recompression should be selected.
I would be quite happy to continue converting in Full Recompression, however, considering that some knowledgeable people have recommended Fast Recompression, apparently there is something worth noting.
Improper color rendering was mentioned in relation with codecs operating in YUV modes and getting RGB input, but my colors are OK, just the image is upside down.
    Would someone care to comment?
    Thx wh

Why do you insist on being rude and providing useless information. This type of post is not only counter-productive, but just plain irresponsible.

The correct answer would be ...

... Stand on your head !

Setting the TV upside down for large screen televisions or large monitors could cause damage to the device and possibly cause a hernia or sprained back to the user. For God's sake -- your suggestion could end up ruining someone's hardware and/or causing bodily harm !!!

Thanks, I did the search before posting this, it furnished four items, none of this was particularly helpful, as they all referred to Nero.

  6. Just a thought ...

Have you installed the NIMO Codec pack? If so, you need to de-install and install without the bicubic re-sizer as it will cause it to render upside down.

One of the reasons is that nobody is close enough to punch me out.
    ...even though I deserve it.

BTW standing on your head has unfortunate physiological repercussions also.
you should get skyboots and hang by your feet in the closet.

That would explain my constant headaches and pinched nerve. I am re-arranging my bedroom to put my TV in line-of-sight with my closet. I just hope the clothes rods will by sturdy enough!
