i was getting the same stuff with nero when i tried it. stopped using it and switched to another software to burn it, and they burn every time. NERO never worked for me.

I got that with Nero 6.0 than upgraded to the current "free upgrade" that is posted on the Ahead site(6.1 or 6.2?) and have had good burns since

  4. so what is the consensus software to use if not nero? if i dont get those error messages, my disk at other times would comeout flakey and is not readable by almost all dvdroms. i get very few successes w/ the listed combination

Nero errors are invariably bad ASPI layer or old version of NERO. You can't use a brand-spanking new DVDRW with an old version of NERO. Nero needs to understand your drive in order to use it.

Try the current version 6.3.0.2 , if that doesn't work then try RecordNow.
