  1. i have a bunch of mpegs and have been making dvd's out of them with tmpgenc dvd author for a while now but i find that it is a resource hog and always takes at least 2 hours to make a dvd out of like 20 files ~200 megs each. I used to use tmpgenc to convert avi to mpg but then found winavi and found that that cuts my time in half and that leads me to believe that there is something that exists that is more resource friendly for dvd authoring(i dont know why exactly but lets just go with that)Also i would like it to be a program that is still being updated if possible and as simple as possible, if that is not to much to ask.

    p.s. i have a 2.08 ghz processor

Sony Vegas Movie Studio and DVD?. Resource hog? Don't really know. I run 7 systems down in the old shack and can dedicate one or more to just doing one task. If wait is an issue, start your task before going to bed, wake up to a open DVD Drive tray, take out your disk and enjoy.

Could be that TDA is converting the audio. If the source has 44.1 MHz audio, like a VCD, then TDA will upsample to 48 KHz and that can take some time. MAybe try FFmpeggui to convert the audio to AC3 and use that as the audio source. You shouldn't have to demux your source file.

PS, You can check your source with avicodec.
