  1. Happy New Year!

I have a vcd that freezes/skips/jerks when I play it in my standalone Cyberhome CH-402 dvd player. However, the file plays flawlessly on my PC. Also, I just watched a vcd a week ago on my standalone, and it played fine (on the same media, so I know that's not the issue).

I've never had any kind of vcd/svcd/dvd playback issues previously. I've tried burning at a slower speed (4x) and with different programs (Nero, Alcohol 120%) and even re-encoding with TMPGenc, to no avail.

    Any help is appreciated

  3. I am sure this isn't the reason but it was something I wanted to share. I had the same jerky video on my standalone while my VCD played fine in my PC. I had inadvertently loaded the wrong template in TMPGenc when I created the VCD. Instead of the one I wanted I loaded one for KVCD which I had downloaded and done some tests on earlier and had determined my standalone didn't support it as it cause jerky playback. Once I realized what was going on I rencoded the original with the proper template with the correct GOP and all was well again.
No, I'm from Iowa. I only work in outer space.

  4. I presuming that you have checked first for any bad frames that may be present with Vdub.

What babyboo says could be right because i used to have that problem with encoding a 23.976fps film but had to make sure 'inverse telecine' was ticked because of a 'slightly jerky playback'

Also this may be to obvious for words but it did happen to me only last week is the disc your using clean???????
i have a few cd-rw that i always use for vcds but one particlular film was given me bad playback which i thought was a dodgy film but only after 3 films that seemed to jump and freeze in the same place did i bother to check the disc only to find a great big thumb print on the disc
