  1. Finally! I can post! Yes, this is my first post and I am very anxious to see if anyone here can help me. I am trying to backup Tears of the Sun and I am having no luck. I'm not sure what the problem is(obviously or I wouldnt have to post) I was able to make a successful copy of Bad Boys II on RW media using DVD shrink and Copy2DVD but this program will not recognize my DVD-R discs. I updated firmware on my LDW 411-S and the drive will now read the disc but the burning software still does not like it. I have also tried Nero 6.0 and most recently RecordNow Max. Nero acted like it was burning (Drive light was even on and red) but at very end it shows error message and says:
    1:46:19 PM #34 Phase 38 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1818
    Burn process failed at 2x (2,760 KB/s)

When I tried RecordNow I selected the "Test first and then burn" option and again it got all the way to the end and then gave me an error message saying "error 10 at sector 16"

I am pretty certain I am doing the ripping right. I have tried dvddecrypter and DVDshrink and everything seems to go smoothly. Oh and I have also tried the DVD2One program to no avail. So needless to say I am beginning to get frustrated. I'm not even sure if it is a hardware problem or software or media? I am using Accu DVD-R discs.

    Thanks in advance,
    A frustrated burner

  2. what brand of media are you using, cheap media has a ton of errors. As you read more and more posts you'll see just how many people will run across the same issue. Just one of the many things to start looking at with your issue.

  3. sorry I didn't see Accu media at the bottom, try using name brand media like TDK or Ritek, Fuji...more compatibility.

  4. Hi,
I have actually already ordered some Ritek G04 discs that should be here soon. I am hoping that is the problem. From looking through the forums though it doesn't look like that solved alot of people's problems.(?)

  5. Hi antiduke and welcome to the forum

You may be like a lot of us and found our media isn't supported by our burner. Here is a media guide you can check for your drive type and the media in question but I don't think it lists your Lite-On drive. Sorry. DVD Media Report I can't seem to find a media list that has your drive listed.... lol

The firmware offered for the LDW 411-S just says it allows more media, but I couldn't find out 'which' media they are refering to. Your media may not be supported. Check that link out it may help.

    Good luck.

  6. Hi bottle-necked. Thanks for the link but my burner isn't listed on that site. I have a Lite-on LDW 411-s I found a site similar to that one earlier though and it listed the Ritek disks that I recently purchased as being compatible with my drive. I guess all I can do is wait and see if that fixes the problem. Man, I hate waiting!

  7. Yes, I also read that Ritek is supported and recommended for it.

I think the media is your problem.
    Good luck.

  8. Well I found the problem. It was the media as I had hoped. I now have good disks and two perfect backups (Ice Age and Gone in 60 seconds) with Pirates of the Caribbean to be done in a couple minutes. Everything is working perfectly so far using DVDShrink and Nero! Looking forward to many more burnings.
