Hey everyone! I’m new to this whole AVI to DVD thing, but am pretty good with computers. I’ve been having a lot of trouble converting an AVI I’ve downloaded encoded with 3ivx to MPEG2 with TMPGENC. According to VirtualDub, it runs at 23.976 fps. Mainly, the audio and video is extremely out of sync in the conversion from AVI>MPEG2. I’ve tried exporting an uncompressed PCM audio stream from VirtualDub and using that as the audio source in TMPGENC, but I’ve had no luck. This is the first problem I run into when opening up the AVI in VirtualDub:
I’ve tried this, and no luck. Here’s the properties for the file:
So what do you think guys? How can I work around the synching issues? I've also tried encoding in Cleaner XL, but it still is out of sync! Any help offered will be GREATLY appreciated. This is driving me nuts as the original AVI is perfectly synched. I hope to eventually be able to burn the MPEG2 to a DVD using my new spiffy burnerThanks in advance!!

Have you tried Virtual Dub mod, and saving the audio out as a wave file and muxing it with the original video to see if it stays in synch?
Hello. -
Ok, I'm trying to do as you suggested...but when I open up the AVI file in VirtualDubMod, I don't see any options for Audio. What am I missing?

I've tried this and still no luck. I can't understand why this is happening?

I've also tried creating an AC3 file and a seperate MPEG2 video stream and then Multiplexing the two together. This, unfortunatley, produces the same out of sync result.

How far out of synch is the audio, and is it always out by the same amount?
