  1. I followed the DVD to DVDr instructions. Got rid of the DS_STORE file thru Roxio's clear function. When burning was initiated, the Desktop_DB and Desktop_DF files suddenly popped up? Will these pose a problem when I try to play the disc on a regular DVD player?

    no
however that usually doest show up

    1. did you use DVD-ROM (UDF) mode of DATA?
    2. they show up when you do more than one burn in toast. I usually quit toast and reopen after each burn

    hope this helps

  3. The DVD burned, but would not play on my player. I did choose DVD_ROM(UDF) on the DATA section. Now, my main data source has the DVD_ EXACT_NAME, and inside are VIDEO_TS (from DVD2ONEX that has both AUDIO_TS & VIDEO_TS files) and AUDIO_TS (I made) folders. The DVD_ROM(UDF) shows both of these files.

It wont play because, and this is if I read what you wrote correctly, you have an AUDIO_TS folder INSIDE your VIDEO_TS folder.

  5. I have had that happen on occasion and I just ran it through the wash again (DVD2ONE on a DVD-R 1:1 setting).

  6. Darn. I feel so bad wasting so many discs already So, the folder where I am assigning the data from DVD2ONEX should not have the VIDEO_TS folder that I read needs to be assigned in there? The only VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS files should only be coming from the data gathered from the DVD2ONEX. I read somewhere that I am supposed to place an AUDIO_TS folder in the area where I am assigning DVD2ONEX to save the movie at.

basically it needs to be like this.....

    DVD_NAME
    ---AUDIO_TS [Folder]
    ---VIDEO_TS [Folder]
    -------VIDEO_TS.VOB and all associated files

    You have two folders
    1. is AUDIO_TS
    2. is VIDEO_TS

the VIDEO_TS folder does not have ANY other folders in it.
you woudl then create a dvd disk that has these two folders in the root of the disk, as seen above

Here's a picture of proper folder placement as seen in Toast 5.2
just make them look the same in 6.0 and you will be set

PS. DO NOT DOUBLE POST. 5 min between posts means you didnt just click twice accidently!

  9. The VIDEO_TS files has another set of AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS inside it. Are there too many AUDIO_TS files here?

    correct....
as i just said...... it shoudl look like the above picture
and NO FOLDERS INSIDE THE VIDEO_TS FOLDER!

how about this... post a screenshot of what your folders look like

im confused when you say the VIDEO_TS files have a VIDEO_TS folder in it

    thats not right at all!

  11. Ahh...how do I do screen shots? The reply posted twice because I got an error message on my first send, so I re sent it again after it allowed me to do so

    Hi

I think the step you are missing is "Create a new DVD". In toast if dvd is selected there should be a button where the New folder button is in the picture above. The button will be New DVD. click it then Name it. Then drag and drop your VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders . If you don't create the new dvd it will do exactly what is going wrong with your past problems.

command shift 3 to take a screenshot
you have to then upload it to a server of yours so that the picture has a web address

.mac or any account you have will work

then you just put the image in using this command

  14. The "Create A New DVD" is available in Roxio's Toast Titanium? I am working on the Screenshot for M(ac)oderator, but basically it will look like this:

    DVD_NAME
    AUDIO_TS (the folder I made)
    VIDEO_TS
AUDIO_TS (the folder made by DVD2ONEX)
    VIDEO_TS
    (all files here)

    Hi

Yes it is in toast titanium. Get rid of the first two folders and use only the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders that DVD2ONE made. The thing you were doing before was dumping the files in the window without first creating the new dvd. When you do that it creates those desktop files. Sometimes if you have watched the video_ts folder with your dvd player on the computer it will also create the same files. I ususlly open the video_ts folder it in the toast window and remove them. I have burnt it with them in and it didn't mess anything up.

    Hope this helps

  18. So what is the rationale of having to put another AUDIO_TS file, as instructed by the guide, if I am just going to dump it in the end?

The rationale is DVD2ONE doesnt make AUDIO_TS folders (not sure how yours is making them for you)

    when I run a dvd all i get is a VIDEO_TS folder as a result of dvd2one

thus you have to "add one" like i said in my tutorial

any way... just make it look like above and your set

You should use RW media to avoid coaters

Also no one has explained why to you

    here is why:
When they developed DVD they decided since in 1997 most computers could not recognize large files (OVER 2 or 4 gig) so they developed the DVD SPEC with these files called VOB's

what happens is anything you put into a DVD..Stills, Audio , Menus etc all gets converted to MPEG-2 stream and then the authoring converts all that to VOB's..
EACH VOB is filled to a ONE GIG capacity
when each VOB is finished, another is created.. The last VOB therefore, may not get filled and be smaller..

NOW for AUDIO_TS this folder is only used if you have .AOB files-NOT FOR A DVD VIDEO TITLE..as all the vob's contain the 16bit DVD SOUND

.AOB files are created by a DVD AUDIO authoring application

THAT IS -THERE is nothing in the AUDIO_TS folder unless the dvd volume contains DVD AUDIO material (24bit high definition AUDIO material)

Any drive that can burn DVD-R media can burn DVD-RW media.

However, different brands and models of drives have "favorite" brands of media, both DVD-R and DVD-RW. On your particular drive, some brands of media will burn fabulously and some won't work at all. And some will kinda maybe work OK sometime. Even if those brands of media work great in someone else's burner.

You can check exactly which brand and model of drive your Mac has (in OS X) by going to Apple Menu/About This Mac/More Info. Then check this board for other folks who have that same drive and see what media they like.

Or purchase a sample pack and do your own tests. Then you'll know for sure before you purchase that spindle of 100.
