  1. Hello,
I have previously captured successfully with no sync/choppiness in the video or audio.
Since then, I installed another 120GB hard drive to capture to. My first file I captured to the new ( partitioned ) drive was about half the size it should have been. For 60 minutes of D8, it should have been around 14GB, was less than half, and both the video and audio were choppy/jerky.
I formatted the new drive ( and it's partitions ) in NTFS. The only difference I can see is next to "Healthy" in Disk Management ( WXP-Home), the new drive and partitions does not say "EISA Configuration".
Does this have something to do with File Indexing or the new capture drive not being defragged yet? I've only captured to it once so far.
Also, if this isn't the problem, how do I disable any things running in the background? And how will I know ALL are disabled?
Thanks in advance. PS, if this has been covered ( I looked for a while ), please direct me.

It does sound like numerous dropped frames to me. You can use a program that counts dropped frames (VDub, Video Studio 6, etc.) to see if you are dropping frames. Also, when you are capturing, capture only. Stay off the 'Net, close any programs not being used by going to the Task manager. You can also leave it open and see how hard your CPU is working as well.
    Hello.

Why even bother setting up multiple partitions on a drive you're using to capture? Just use the whole thing and when you're done with your source just wipe the drive. No defrag worries and no dropped frames.
