  1. I would need some advice about the Terratec Cameo Convert FireWire...
I'd need a device to convert old VHS to VCD (or SVCD or DVD) and I lost enough of my time with the Dazzle DVC-80 (I know, it is crap, but, hey it was a present, so at least I had to try).
Reading this forum I almost made my mind on The Canopus ADVC-100, but I couldn't find it in a store close to my place (I live in Italy) and insted I found availability of the Terratec...I saw in the "capture cards" list only one review and, before opening the wallet for 280 Euros, I would like a little more advice from all you experts...

I have a Toshiba Notebook, 2.5 GHz, 512 MB RAM and 40 Gigs HD and i just want to convert old PAL VHS to digital (I know a bit about VCD, SVCD and DVD and got all the necessary software, so my problem is just to get the good hardware...)

thnak you all for reading this

  2. Ciao,

  3. ciao, Fabio e grazie....

well, I also want to ask about another capture card: the Cameo 400 AV mobile, connected via PCMCIA to a notebook...any news anybody? I've seen that nobody posted experiences with it on the "capture cards" list,
I've read that it captures with MPEG 1/2 encoding, so it is different from DV capturing...
anybody can comment on capturing via PCMCIA vs. FireWire?

Thanks to everybody for your time....
