DVD/Game/Anything website

I was thinking of starting a new site for my own personal collection of custom covers for dvds, games, etc and was wondering if anyone was interested in it? I am in the process of converting all my pc games to dvd style cases and making corresponding covers and such.

The site would have guides and stuff, maybe links, etc. Also files of templates, and drivers, just anything related. It would also allow people to upload their own covers and such.

I have plenty of server space, i was just trying to think of a name for it, any ideas?

I think this would be a good idea as there aren't too many sites out there that have covers. I currently use www.cdcovers.cc there is a wide range of covers on there unfortunately not CD covers but there are PC PS2 Xbox Game cube DVD covers.

Introducing this website would benefit many i believe and i for one would certainly use it to download and upload covers.

They would all have to be custom or you will get sued for copyright violations. You can't scan the original and post it.

Yes, they would all be custom covers. I make alot of custom covers and know many other peopl do too. So i would simply have a place to put them all. They would all have to be high res also. Preferably 240dpi or higher. Mine are all 300dpi, and my dvd disc covers are usually 240dpi.

I am going to definately do it, just need to think of a domain name.

I love the idea... not sure what you should name it.. but I have 400mb of custom covers (300dpi) I'd be willing to u/l.. let me know when you're up and running.

vandakeg if you want i can give you some ftp info to upload some covers for starters. Not to sound snobby or anything, but do you mind posting one or two just to give me an idea of what you have? Or jsut email a couple to me. I dont need the full res, just a compressed jpg preview.

I will ned to create some sort of searchable database for it all, pluss make a forum and such. I will probably start out with something basic just to get the site started and then make it "fancy" as i have time.

Probably do it in PHP. Hopefully i will have word in the next day or two for a name.

Yeah, i checked my PM. Those look good. I too am a contributor on DVDcoverart, But they are getting more and more strict, and i also want a place for other types of covers also.

I just need a domain name and i can get it started. In am working on the forums and stuff today and hopefully will have something up by tomorrow.

Ok, so i am in the process of getting a forum and site uploaded and created. I decided on the name..... coverfiend.com

It should be up and working within the next day. I will post later with links and stuff.

Ok, i am still working on the main site and database, but the forum is up and working, to the best of my knowledge. Please register and feel free to drop me a line. I will begin to upload covers and such soon.

Just to recap this site is for custom dvd covers, custom video game covers, and whatever else you can think of. I am going to be converting a bunch of my PC games like halo, call of duty, bf1942 and more.

Check it out! Hopefully it will become a good alternative/supplement to the other sites on the net.

They used to do CD covers too, until they were forced to remove them.

yeah thats what i was saying, you can still request covers now though which is an alternative but if in desperate need for the cover sometimes it can take a while to get a response.
