like is there a way to split the background from the menu items? cuz obviously at one point it was just one or the other, so can the merging process be reversed? thanx a lot to ne one who can help

The menu's will have the buttons that you see physically drawn on them. It is just one still picture. Then subpictures will be laid on top and used as a highlight. So when you are looking at the menu you just see the still picture as is, and when you select a button, the highlight shows over it. You can save out the menu picture either by taking a screenshot or by ripping the vob to your hard drive and digitally extracting the frame either using something like VirtualDubMod or dvdavi + TMPGenc. The subpictures can be extracted using Subrip or any other program that can rip subtitles from vob files.
