Hello All,
New to the Forum but wondered if anyone has an answer for me?
I've just installed a Pioneer 106D DVD writer and used clone DVD to backup one of my DVDs. When I put the Disc into my Player (Dansai 1010) it crashes it and I have to repower it to get the disc out. I have tried on my PC and another player and works fine on them!! Straight away you'd think that its just that the player doesn't like the disc but I have previously watched a DVD-R (Bulkpaq Orange) with no problems - this is what made me buy this brand!
Any Ideas? As I have seen posts by others saying that the player works fine with these discs
All help would be great (as long as it works lol)
Cheers

sounds like your player is dying
I had one of the 1010's that played everything and then in time it just froze and I had to power off to get it to spit the DVD out
it would play it sometimes but slowly got worse and started struggling on original DVD's!
have you tried using a cleaning disc? -
Bulkcrap Orange are really poor quality and not suitable for movies, or much else for that matter.
Try a decent Ritek disk and your problem will go. -
I forgot to mention I had Ritek's, as I said all played perfect but then they stopped playing even though they had played before
I thought it was the DVD's but 2 mate's with the same player tried the DVD's and they worked just fine!, so it was definitely my player that had died -
Thanks Guys.
I'm not sure if its still under warranty? I'll have to try my luck with Tesco Methinks
I have noticed recently that even when playing VCDs it will freeze and the disc will spin into orbit before it picks up where it left off. Ah well it was a good player while it lasted! - Still works like just a bit flakey!
Thanks anyway guys! -
lol, I was too lazy and didnt bother for 6 months and the warranty got real close and in the end I decided to sort it out and it's real simple and Tesco are very helpful if it's still in warranty
all you have to do is call the number it displays and you can talk to someone but make sure you have your receipt handy as they ask for the code
they will ask you if you have cleaned the laser etc (I presume you have), they may even offer an updated firmware (I'd flashed mine with this when I first got it so this wasn't my issue)
if it still doesn't work they will do a swap and arrange a time to come and collect the old player and give you a replacement
so all it costs is a phone call
p.s. I left it real late and got tied up with other things so I didnt arrange a replacement in time, but it's my own fault but then it's only a cheap player anyway
plus I use the TV out from PC all the time now

Got It SORTED!!!
I called Tesco an they took me through reseting the Box! And it played the DVD-R no problems at all
To Do this Turn on the Box
Press the Setup button on the remote
Go To Preferences
Then Settings - Reset
Well something very similar to that anyway you'll know what I mean if you do it. -
they never told me that!
I will give it a go and see what happens
thanks for feedback and maybe there's life in the old baby yet -
nope no good
screen flashed a bit when I reset but that's all it did
oh well, I'll have look at the guts sometime next year and have a play if I get bored
