  1. I have a HP Laserjet 1010 that ran out of toner. Instead of replacing the cartridge, somebody came and added a bottle of toner powder to the old cartridge. The technician clearly knew what he was doing. This operation took about 6 minutes to do. He removed a few screws, springs, rivet and took out some rollers.
Then he tapped out a bit of old toner and then removed a cover and added 1 full bottle of toner powder.
    My question is:
    1) Is there someplace on the web that shows clearly how to do this operation?
    2) Also, is the bottle of toner powder widely available in the US?

There might be but you really don't want to mess with that stuff. Toner is nasty stuff. Not only can it really mess up your lungs but it stains terribly and is also explosive (like almost any fine powder). I used to have to refill toner from a bottle on some Xerox machines many years ago and I wouldn't do it again if I didn't have to. It's not worth the $$$ you might be saving.
