Ive looked on the forum and guides and I was unable to see a guide on how to remove subtitles from an avi (DivX 4 if thats important).
Also, there are some subtitles on the original movie, will they be okay?
Thanks in advance.

SORRY CAN'T BE DONE
THE SUBTITLES ARE MARRIED TO THE VIDEO
Divx cannot support "layers"
You should do some reading of those GUIDES you speak of!!!
I don't understand the other question

Are You making this divx file from an original movie (that someone else made with 'subtitles')?
If its a DVD..yes you can usually make the new file discarding the subs -

It is actually a documentary that I downloaded. There are a few interviews that are given by people who speak in a foreign language, they have original subtitles in the interviews.
However, the video has a second set of subtitles that have been added that span across the entire duration of the movie.
So what I meant was would I be able to just get rid of the added subtitles and then keep the subtitles that were a part of the original movie.Yours,
