Ok, I've used DVD Shrink with great success in the past, but I have run into a little snag. I have a dvd that is 7.2 gig's and that just the actually movie not including the extra stuff. I'm trying to re-author it and even using level 9 compression it's still to big.
Any suggestions on how to get this to fit onto one dvd?
Thanks!

Try using v3.0 beta 5. Good luck though on getting good video quality. I hope you are stripping out the maximum of unwanted streams because that's alot of compression to do working with 7.2 GBs.

Well, I backing up a dvd that's 2 hours and 23 minutes.
I managed to strip out some stuff and compress it and burned it to dvd but this is strange. The movie plays fine but it has the subtitles...i.e. it prints in yellow text on the bottom of the screen everything that is said...bummer. Never had this problem before.
So, what did I do wrong?Speedyrat -
presto, hehe!
Yes, I knew that! I was trying to figure out what I did to get those subtitles on there, before I toasted another 4X dvd.
I used re-author and the 'start/end thing' to cut out the credits at the end and then just selected the largest video file, which was 7.2 gigs and then compressed it. So, where did the subtitles come from? That's what I'm trying to get at...I didn't select them, unless they are included in that 7.2 gig file.Speedyrat -
This is really strange. I checked the VOB files that dvd shrink made from the rip, using Power DVD and when it plays them it does not show any subtitles.
I had been burn my dvd shrink rips with RecordNow DX that came with my Sony DRU-500 burner. I just upgraded that software to version 6.
Anyone have a clue why it may have burned the subtitles in there?
Anyway to turn it off?
Thanks!Speedyrat -
Have you been to the DVD shrink forum? I think this has been discussed there but it never happened to me so I didn't pay much attention. Try here

No, I haven't looked in their forums, but I figured it out.
For some reason, the subtitles are turned on by default, so when the dvd is burned and then inserted into my home dvd or into my pc with Power DVD, it shows the subtitles. I have to turn them off...no big deal...just a little frustrating, but I will live...Speedyrat
